Some organizations that violate the law are declared extremist, and some are terrorist . What's the difference?

Terrorism is an extreme form of extremism. It includes the organization, planning, financing and implementation of terrorist attacks. The activities of extremist and terrorist organizations are suppressed by various articles of the Criminal Code. At the same time, in the second case, more severe punishment is expected both for members of such associations and for those who defend or defend their actions in the media or on the Internet.

“If an organization is recognized as a terrorist organization, then attempts to justify it activities are threatened not only with fines, but also with prison terms of up to 7 years, – considers Coordinator of the Information Group on Crimes Against the Person (IGCP) Alexander Dyukov. – At any mention they should be marked. Recognition of an organization as a terrorist organization entails for its members a punishment of up to 20 years in prison. 

At the same time, planning and coordinating extremist activities involves imprisonment for up to 12 years.
