The Vostok-2022 exercises will be held from September 1 to 7, more than 50,000 military personnel from the SCO and CSTO countries will take part in them, more than 5,000 weapons will be involved. They will work out security in the Eastern region
In the exercises “Vostok-2022”, which will be held from September 1 to 7, more than 50 thousand military personnel and over 5 thousand units of weapons and military equipment, including 140 drones, will take part and 60 warships and other military vessels, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
The exercises will be held at seven training grounds of the Eastern Military District— “Burduny”, “Hot Springs”, “Knyaz-Volkonsky”, “Lagunnoye”, “Sergeevsky”, “Telemba” and «Uspenovsky»,— as well as in the waters and coastal zones of the Sea of Okhotsk and the Sea of Japan. They will be attended by military personnel from the countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and other partner states, including from Azerbaijan, Algeria, Armenia, Belarus, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Laos, Laos, Nicaragua, Syria and Tajikistan.
From Russia, military command and control bodies and troops of the Eastern Military District, part of the forces of the Airborne Forces, long-range and military transport aviation participate in the maneuvers. The purpose of the exercises is to improve the interaction of military contingents to ensure security in the Eastern Region.
The main part of the events will take place at the Sergeevsky training ground, and in the Sea of Japan, the Pacific Fleet, together with the naval forces of China, will work out the defense of sea lanes and assistance to ground forces in the coastal direction.
Belarus confirms participation in Vostok-2022 exercises in early August, the country will send more than 250 troops for maneuvers. In mid-August, China announced participation in the exercises, without specifying the number of troops being sent.
